Frequently Asked Questions

Are you Amish?

Yes, I am Old Order Amish. That is why a non-Amish businessperson built the website and is helping with the web orders. She is a friend who will forward the orders to us, and we at Rachel’s Country Store will package and ship the items to you.

Are your products really made by the Amish community?

With the exception of Rhythm clocks and some novels, every product on the website is made by Amish families. Although the clocks are not Amish made, you would find them in nearly every Amish home in our area. Rhythm clocks are quite popular in the Amish community across the States.

Does your website show everything you sell?

No. Rachel’s Country Store carries a lot more than we can offer through online ordering. Perhaps we will add more items to the website as time progresses. If you’re in our area, I invite you to stop by Rachel’s Country Store to browse. We have both Amish-made and non-Amish-made items. We carry a large selection of rubber stamps, card-making items, and scrapbooking supplies. We also have a toy section with a variety of the Ertl (die-cast collectible) farm toys, Schleich animals, and a lot of other hard-to-find toys as well as Amish-made toys. We carry a large selection of Woodwick and Bridgewater candles. We have Heritage Lace, Park Designs, and many more gift lines, and, as mentioned earlier, we carry rhythm clocks.

Do you accept phone orders?

Yes, we do! Just call us at 717-530-9452, Monday through Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. We are closed on Sunday. We’d be happy to help you, but please don’t call to chitchat with an Amish person or ask that burning “Amish” question. If you have a question about Amish life, you may send it to Cindy Woodsmall, and she or her assistant will be sure to answer it either privately or on her blog. You can contact her at cindy@cindywoodsmall.com.

Do you ship for free?

We wish we could. However, we are a small family-run store, so we have to pass along our mailing costs.

What are your shipping options?

We ship by USPS or UPS. Over the years we’ve discovered that it is usually less expensive to use USPS, but if the order is a large package or going a long distance, UPS may be the better way to ship.

Why is my phone number required to complete an order?

This is to assure timely shipping of your merchandise. If something is wrong with the order (such as something missing in your address or if an item is out of stock), we need a fast and easy way to reach you, get the problem solved, and get your item in the mail as quickly as possible. We will never give out your phone number or any of your information. We want only to serve you well.
